FIX: Zetadocs PDF fails to start with Outlook 2013

Print

ZTN3610

ID: ZTN3610

This Zetadocs technical note applies to:

  • Zetadocs PDF Client versions 8 to 9.3.399

Symptom

Zetadocs PDF client throws an error similar to the following: “Exception of type ‘Zetadocs.Exceptions.ExceptionTypes.UndeterminableOutlookVersionBitnessExceptioin’ was thrown.

Cause

The logic previously used to check the installed version of Outlook could not find the appropriate registry key.

Resolution

This issue is resolved in a hotfix. The hotfix correctly resolves the version of Outlook.

Alternatively a workaround is available. The workaround is to add the following registry keys:

1. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook

-  String value called (Default) with the value Outlook.Application.15

2. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook

- String value called Bitness with the value x64.

Registry Editor warning

WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Equisys cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved.

Status

This fault was corrected in a hotfix, which is available by contacting Equisys Technical Support and quoting the technote number ZTN3610. The hotfix will assume that Outlook is 64 bit unless a different value is found in the registry.
