PRB: Zetafax Exchange extension ZFSiteAdmin could not be loaded

This Zetafax technical note applies to:

• Zetafax 7.00.0.26 Exchange connector or later.

Symptom

Attempting to set the Zetafax Options tab on the Site properties dialog when viewed with the Microsoft Exchange Administrator program (ADMIN.EXE) will generate the error:

Extension 'ZFSiteAdmin' could not be loaded.

The error '87' occurred while formatting Windows NT error '182'

A similar error will also occur when viewing the Zetafax mailbox properties:

Extension 'ZFMbxAdmin' could not be loaded.

Cause

The Zetafax Exchange properties tabs are dependant on MFC42.DLL version 6.0.8447.0 or later to display correctly. Under certain conditions the above error occurs when the Zetafax connector installation cannot update the version of MFC42.DLL, and the Zetafax Site and Mailbox properties tabs are attempting to use an earlier version of the file that is already installed on the Exchange server.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:

1. Close down ADMIN.EXE on the Exchange server.
2. Search for the file MFC42.DLL on the local machine and rename any instances of it to MFC42.DLL.OLD.
3. Navigate to the \zfax\SYSTEM\I386 folder, where 'zfax' is the name of the directory where the Zetafax server files are installed. This folder contains the required version of MFC42.DLL.
4. Copy the MFC42.DLL file from the \i386 folder to the location it was in on the Exchange server.

Restart ADMIN.EXE and check that all the properties tabs are functioning correctly.

Status

This has been identified by Equisys as a problem with the software versions given above.
