This Zetafax technical note applies to:
Symptom
After applying enhanced security to a Zetafax server system then changing user's Zetafax groups, users may have access to files in groups they no longer belong to. Also some users may receive an "Access denied" error message when starting up the Zetafax client (see below).
Cause
The problem appears only on Zetafax installations where Enhanced Security has been applied. When changes are made to a Zetafax Group (e.g. a Zetafax User is added to the list of Group members), the access restrictions applied to the Zetafax Groups folders should be updated. In some cases this update will not occur, so the newly added Zetafax User may not be able to access the Group's folders and view received faxes.
Another possibility is that a Zetafax User who has been removed from a Zetafax Group may still have access rights to the Group's folders.
This problem is caused by fault in the Zetafax Configuration software.
Resolution
It is possible to modify the access rights to Zetafax Group folders using Windows Explorer, so the problem can be corrected manually.
Equisys has provided an updated version of the Zetafax client and server which resolves this problem. It can be downloaded from the following URL
http://www.equisys.com/support_upd_8.htm
Status
This has been identified by Equisys as a problem with the software versions given above.
