FIX: Printer driver files are not removed when uninstalling the Zetafax Client.
This Zetafax technical note applies to:
- Zetafax Client Version 2012 Platform Feature Pack and below
When performing an uninstall of the Zetafax Client, or upgrading from an older version, or applying the ZTN1872 patch, it may be observed that the Zetafax Printer files (IMG*.DLL files in the ‘C:\Windows\System32\spool’ folder) remain on the system.
On an upgrade, the version number of these drivers may indicate that the printer drivers have not been updated (this would only usually be an issue if you experience printing problems with your existing printer drivers).
This is due to a file locking issue during uninstall of the older printer drivers. This prevents the printer drivers from being removed from the system.
Uninstall the Zetafax Client, then follow ZTN1909 to manually uninstall the Zetafax Client printer drivers. This should remove any trace of the Zetafax printer drivers on the system.
If performing an upgrade, proceed to install the later version of Zetafax Client. This will push the updated printer drivers onto the system.
This behaviour was corrected in the Zetafax Version 2012 Platform Feature Pack.
