PRB: Nothing appears in the Zetadocs PDF document explorer window when printing from Sage Line 50

This Zetadocs technical note applies to:

  • Zetadocs PDF version 3 and later
  • Sage Line 50 (all versions)

Symptom

When printing to the Zetadocs PDF printer from Sage Line 50, the Zetadocs PDF client is correctly launched, however the document does not appear in the document explorer window.

Cause

Sage Line 50 prints modified report templates as LocalSystem, even though you are logged in with a user account. So instead of the spooled output going to the users temp area, it goes to the system area.

Resolution

Follow the instructions below to resolve the problem:

  1. Go to the Printers and Faxes system folder.
  2. Right click the Zetadocs PDF Printer and choose Properties.
  3. Select the Advanced tab and click the Printing Defaults button:

  1. Select the Filename Generation tab and change the Output Directory from < < TEMP> > to the logged on users temp area. This will be something like:

C:\Documents and Settings\ssmith\Local Settings\Temp

  1. Click OK and OK again.
  2. Now open Sage Line 50 and choose the type of document you wish to print.
  3. Select the modified layout and choose Preview from the Generate Report drop-down.
  4. Click the Print Setup button.

  1. Choose the Zetadocs PDF Printer and click the Setup button.

  1. Select the Filename Generation tab and change the Output Directory from < < TEMP> > to the logged on users temp area. This will be something like:

C:\Documents and Settings\ssmith\Local Settings\Temp

  1. Click OK and OK again.
  2. When you close the Preview you will be prompted to save changes. Be sure to click Yes.
  3. Now choose Print from the Generate Report drop-down and the document will be displayed in the Zetadocs PDF Document Explorer Window.

Status

This has been identified by Equisys as a problem with the software versions given above.
