INFO: What's New in January 2015 update rollup for Zetadocs NAV Client and Server Extensions version 7.0

ID: ZTN4385

This Zetadocs technical note applies to:

  • Version 5.0 and later of Zetadocs for Microsoft Dynamics NAV

This technical note describes the updates present in version 7.0.386 of Zetadocs NAV Client and Zetadocs NAV Server Extensions.

More information

Version 7.0.386 of Zetadocs NAV Client and Zetadocs NAV Server Extensions includes the following new features and software improvements:

Software Improvements:

FOB-independent updates

This update roll-up introduces a new mechanism that allows the Zetadocs NAV Client and Zetadocs NAV Server Extensions to be updated independently of the Zetadocs NAV Objects. The main benefit is that as these updates involve running a simple installation program and do not go near Microsoft Dynamics NAV itself, customers could apply the update themselves if required without involving their NAV partner.

This mechanism is backwards compatible as far as version 5 of Zetadocs for NAV and version 2009 SP1 of Microsoft Dynamics NAV, meaning there is no need to automatically update the Zetadocs NAV Objects to apply a Zetadocs NAV Client or Zetadocs NAV Server Extensions fix. Going forward, the Zetadocs NAV Objects will only require an update if you want to add new functionality or if we issue a specific fix in our Zetadocs NAV Objects, which we’ll make clear on the Zetadocs for NAV updates page for your version of Zetadocs.

This update, available here, should be applied using the same upgrade procedure as upgrading from versions 5.0 to 7.0 of Zetadocs for NAV.
