PRB: Only the first page of a fax is sent when using Eicon SoftIP H.323

This Zetafax technical note applies to:

  • Zetafax v2006 SP1 and later
  • Eicon Soft-IP H.323

Symptom

The remote recipient receives only the first page, or part of the first page a multipage fax when using Eicon Soft-IP H.323.

Cause

Currently, the Zetafax Eicon Soft-IP integration does not support the Modified Read (MR) compression method.

Resolution

The workaround requires MR to be disabled in the Soft-IP configuration (Modified Huffman and Modified Read are supported).

  1. Open the configuration program from Start | Programs | SoftIP | SoftIP Configuration.
  2. Navigate down to the T.30 - UDP (see screenshot below).

  3. Uncheck the box - "Modified Read (MR)".
  4. Save and close the configuration screen.
  5. Restart Zetafax Server to re-initialise the CAPI devices.

Status

This has been identified by Equisys as a problem with the software versions given above.
