PRB: Zetafax Outlook toolbar does not appear

This Zetafax technical note applies to:

  • Zetafax and later


The Zetafax Outlook toolbar does not appear when the user opens Microsoft Outlook. This toolbar is used to control the Zetafax forms in Microsoft Outlook 2000.


There are two possible reasons for the above symptom:

  1. The Zetafax Outlook toolbar is not supported under Microsoft Outlook 98. The compose fax form may be accessed from the File> New> Choose form dialog in the Organisational forms folder.
  2. The Zetafax Outlook toolbar is installed on a per user basis and you are not logged in as the user who installed the Zetafax Outlook extensions.


Remain logged in as the user who wishes to use the Zetafax Outlook extensions and open Microsoft Outlook 2000 and follow the instructions below:

  1. From the Tools> Options menu select the Other tab and click on the Advanced Options button.
  2. Click on the COM Add-Ins. button on the Advanced options dialog.
  3. Click Add on the COM Add-Ins dialog to launch the Add Add-In browse window.
  4. Browse to C:\Program Files\Zetafax Outlook Extensions and select OUTEXT.DLL and click OK.
  5. Keep clicking OK to exit the Outlook "Options" dialogs.
  6. The Zetafax Outlook toolbar will now be visible.


The Zetafax Outlook extensions are intended for the current user as are thus functioning as designed.
