PRB - Zetafax 2008 installation hangs when upgrading from Zetafax version 9 or 10

This Zetafax technical note applies to:

  • Zetafax version 9, version 10 (2006) and all service packs


Upgrading from Zetafax version 9 and 10 to Zetafax 2008 either hangs, or fails with the following error (1721):


The cause for this problem is being investigated.


The following steps can be followed to prevent this problem and must be performed before the upgrade is attempted:  

  1. Extract the folder provided (UpdateService) to a temporary location, e.g. c:\temp\
  2. Browse to < program files> \Common Files\Installshield
  3. Rename the existing folder UpdateService to UpdateService.old
  4. Copy the new UpdateService folder extracted above to this folder.
  5. Now launch the Zetafax Server 2008 installer.
  6. The upgrade to Zetafax Server 2008 should now succeed.


A workaround has been found for resolving this issue. Please contact Equisys support for download instructions.
