HOWTO: Manually uninstall the Zetafax Client Printer drivers

This Zetafax technical note applies to:

  • Zetafax 2012 and below.


This document will describe the steps required to manually uninstall the Zetafax Client Printer drivers.

More information

  1. Open the Control Panel and find the Add/Remove programs or Uninstall a program options depending on the operating system version.
  2. Select the Zetafax Client and select Uninstall.
  3. Next delete the folder ‘Zetafax’ (default C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86)).
  4. Restart the operating system.
  5. Browse to the user’s temporary area (Start | Run | “%temp%”) and clear out the contents of this folder.  Be sure to check folders which cannot be deleted (due to file locking) and remove any references to Zetafax.
  6. For 32bit systems browse to:

    • C:\WINDOWS\System32
    • C:\WINDOWS\System32\spool\drivers\w32x86 (Be sure to check all the subfolders)

    For 64bit systems browse to:

    • C:\WINDOWS\System32
    • C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64
    • C:\WINDOWS\System32\spool\drivers\x64 (Be sure to check all the subfolders)

    Ensure that you have remove any IMG***.dll files which are associated with either Equisys or Imagemaker (if they are not associated, do not delete the files).  You can confirm the details by right clicking on the file and selecting Properties, then navigate to the Version tab and look at the description. If some of the files are locked, try restarting the operating system.

  7. Delete ZFPRNCTL.EXE from C:\WINDOWS\System32 or C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64
  8. Open “regedit” from Start | Run.
  9. WARNING:  Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Equisys cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use the Registry Editor at your own risk.

  10. Navigate to “My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Monitors” and delete the key named “FaxBatch Monitor Port”.
