PRB: Remote Administration install cannot find ZFCLIENT.INI

Symptom

When installing Zetafax Remote Administration, the installer displays the following error:

Cause

This error message is caused by the Zetafax Client install folder containing a blank ZFCLIENT.INI file.

Resolution

You can work around this problem by copying the user’s ZFCLIENT.INI file into the Zetafax Client install folder.  To do this, perform the following steps:

  1. Open Windows Explorer and browse to the following folder:
  2. Windows XP systems: < Document and Settings> \< username> \Application Data\Equisys\Zetafax Client

    Windows Vista systems: < Users> \< username> \AppData\Roaming\Equisys\Zetafax Client

    Note: The ZFCLIENT.INI file is located in a hidden folder at the above addresses; you may need to adjust your folder options to access them.

    If using Vista please ensure UAC “User Access Control” is turned off.

  3. Copy the ZFCLIENT.INI file to the Zetafax Client install folder, normally < program files> \Zetafax\
  4. Re-run the Remote Administration installer.

Status

This has been identified by Equisys as a problem with the software versions given above.
