PRB: Cannot select Excel spreadsheet as ODBC address book

Symptom

When importing an Excel spreadsheet as an ODBC database from the Address Book in the Zetafax Client, you get the following error message:

Also the Excel spreadsheet is not imported.

Cause

This behaviour is due to the way Zetafax is designed to connect with ODBC databases. Excel ODBC links operate in a variation to standard ODBC databases as it is a Spreadsheet application.

Resolution

To get data from an Excel file into Zetafax you can import the data in the form of a CSV (Comma Delimited) file. To do so please follow these steps:

  1. Open the spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel, then use the Save As command in the File menu to save the spreadsheet as a "CSV (Comma Delimited)" file.
  2. In the Zetafax Client, create a fax as usual, then click on the Address Book button. Select Import text file and import the CSV file created in step 1.
  3. Continue submitting the fax as normal.

Status

This has been identified by Equisys as a problem with the software versions given above.
