INFO: Rendering of image attachments sent through the E-mail gateway

ID: ZTN1091

This Zetafax technical note applies to:

  • Zetafax

Zetafax e-mail gateway enhanced support for rendering BMP, JPG, TIF, PCX and DCX files sent through the Zetafax e-mail gateway without the need for Imaging for Windows to be installed.

More information

This support is added by default on install of the Zetafax e-mail gateway. You may however decide to add Imaging for Windows as the preferred application to process these attachments. By adding this driver you override this default behavior.

When Zetafax is installed on Windows 2000, image files are processed by Zetafax, as there is no driver available for Kodak Imaging.

NOTE:  When Zetafax renders image files there is no intensity threshold setting, so clean images of text (where the background is pure white) work fine, but anything else comes out all black.
