Summary

This technical note details the process to install the Zetafax Outlook Extensions using group policy in a Windows 2003 active directory domain.

More information

Note: this technical note assumes the following:

  • Zetafax server has been installed and configured on a machine within your network.
  • The Zetafax server folder has been shared out using the Share wizard in Zetafax server configuration.
  • The Zetafax Outlook extension installation has been copied off the Product CD and share out within your network.

Installing the Zetafax Outlook Extensions:

To roll out the Zetafax Outlook Extensions into your active directory domain follow these steps:

  1. Start up Active Directory Users and Computers on a system within your network (this is normally found on a Domain controller system and you need to login with Domain administrator privileges).
  2. Right click domain, and select properties then click on the Group Policy tab.
  3. Select default domain policy and click edit.
  4. Browse to Computer configuration/Administrative templates/windows components/ windows installer.
  5. Double click " Always install with elevated privileges" and set it to enabled.
  6. Browse to User configuration/Administrative templates/windows components/ windows installer.
  7. Double click " Always install with elevated privileges" and set it to enabled.
  8. Browse to User configuration/Software Settings/Software installations.
  9. Click on Action, New, Package...Select Default.msi this should be located on your product CD in Zetafax\Server\program files\Zetafax Server\System.
  10. Select Advanced on the Deploy Software dialog box and click OK.
  11. On the Modifications tab, click Add and browse to the " OutlookExtension.mst" file.
  12. On the Deployment tab, select the options, Assigned and Install this application at logon and click ok.

The Zetafax Outlook Extensions will now be installed once the client system has been rebooted.
