PRB: Zetafax Server Monitor displays the following warning 'Unable to create message pipe'

This Zetafax technical note applies to:

  • Zetafax v2007 SP2 and earlier

Symptom

When opening the Zetafax Server Monitor the following warning is displayed

Cause

Only one instance of the Zetafax Server Monitor can be running on the server.  The warning will appear when two remote sessions are open with Zetafax Server.  If an attempt is made to open the Zetafax Server Monitor in both sessions the warning will appear.

Resolution

Locate any other remote session which has the Zetafax Server Monitor running.  The user can be identified

by following these steps: -

  1. On the Server open Task Manager
  2. Click the Processes tab.
  3. Check which user is running ZServer.exe

Open this users session, close the Zetafax Server Monitor.  You will now be able to monitor the Zetafax Server service from the desired session.

Status

This has been identified by Equisys as a problem with the software versions given above.
