PRB: Zetafax Connector for Exchange 5.5 fails to install with "One or more components could not be installed"
This Zetafax technical note applies to:
- Zetafax 9 Connector for Exchange 5.5
The Zetafax connector install fails with the error "One or more components could not be installed". In the Connector install log (edk*.log) you will see :
01C5459DDC0DC880 ASSERT - process 944, thread 2096, level D_WARNING, file k:\ZetafaxCode\Gateway\EXCNCTR\ZFCInstall\GWInstall.cpp, line 354: A function/method returned
01C5459DDC0DC880 ASSERT - process 944, thread 2096, level D_WARNING, file k:\ZetafaxCode\Gateway\EXCNCTR\ZFCInstall\GWInstall.cpp, line 359: WARNING: unable to add site proxy for FAX address type
The Connector install uses Directory API (DAPI) to modify Exchange directory objects programmatically. The logged in account that is running the Connector install does not have permission to initialise DAPI.
Restrictive Group Policy settings that deny read access to the registry can also effect the correct initialisation of DAPI.
Logon to the Exchange server as another Domain administrator that has Permission Admin roles to the Organisation, Site and Configuration container on the Exchange 5.5 organisation.
Open the Exchange Administrator program (ADMIN.EXE) to ensure the correct registry keys are written to the registry. (See Microsoft article http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/169551/EN-US/ ).
Perform the install again.
This has been identified by Equisys as a problem with the software versions given above.
