PRB: Faxes received when using a MultiTech modem are black

This Zetafax technical note applies to:

o              Zetafax 9 and later

Symptom

After configuring a MultiTech modem with Zetafax, incoming faxes appear black in the Zetafax client.

Cause

Certain MultiTech modems receive the fax transmission as a black document; there are two parameters that can be used to resolve the issue.

Resolution

  1. Locate the zfax\system\z-db\SETUP.INI (where zfax is the name of the Zetafax server share).
  2. Scroll down the file until you find the FCLASS paragraph for your modem, e.g. [FCLASS-1].
  3. On a new line type:

ReceiveReversed: YES

Example:

[FCLASS-1]

Type: Other EIA Class 1 or 2 fax modem

ClassPriority: 1.0,1,2,2.0,2.1

BaudRate: 19200

ConnectTries: 1

If the above does not work please try reversing the setting:

ReceiveReversed: NO

You will need to restart the Zetafax server once you have made the change.

Status

This has been identified by Equisys as a problem in the software versions given above.
