FIX: Unable to open documents in Zetadocs FactBox without Internet Explorer installed



This Zetadocs technical note applies to:

  • Zetadocs for NAV v10.0 and later
  • Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016 and later
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 and earlier


Documents listed in the Zetadocs Documents FactBox fail to open when Internet Explorer in not installed.


Previous versions of the JavaScript Add-in used by the Zetadocs Documents FactBox used an in-built NAV command to open a new browser window to navigate to the document URL. This in-built command calls into the Internet Explorer core libraries. When Internet Explorer is not installed the call fails and nothing happens when you click on the document link in the FactBox.


The recommended resolution is to update to Zetadocs for NAV version 11.1.2516 or later from the updates page, which uses the default application to open the document instead of Internet Explorer.


This behaviour is resolved by the resolution detailed above.
