What’s new in Zetafax 2012?

Support for Windows 8, Windows Server 2012 and Office 2013 desktop apps

The Zetafax 2012 Platform Feature Pack provides full support for Microsoft Windows 8, Windows Server 2012 and Office 2013 desktop apps and is available for both Zetafax and Zetadocs PDF.

Auto Cleanup

The new Auto Cleanup feature removes the need for manual maintenance of users’ Inbox and Outbox folders to control disk usage. Through configurable rules such as age and volume of messages, Auto Cleanup enables administrators to set permitted quotas within each user’s Inbox and Outbox folders. Quotas are then monitored by the Zetafax Server and managed in accordance with the rules specified.

This feature is particularly useful for Zetafax installations with high fax traffic for individual user accounts, as well as for systems that use the Zetafax API or Zetafax’s ZSUBMIT file drop feature to submit faxes for sending.

Delete After Sending

The Zetafax Client can now be configured to automatically remove messages from the Outbox once they have been sent successfully. The new Delete After Sending feature matches use of email clients more closely, removes the need for users to maintain their Outboxes manually, and helps to protect against the potential reduction in system performance caused by high volume users with large Outboxes.

Zetafax Client enhancements

Zetafax 2012 includes a number of enhancements to the Zetafax Client, designed to further enhance user experience including:

  • Add signatures and other annotations before sending:
Faxes which have been sent via the Zetafax Client wizard can now be annotated prior to sending by using the tools available in the Zetafax Viewer. The annotation tools can be used for adding additional images such as a signatures to fax pages, or to blank out (redact) sensitive information before sending

  • Client's Tidy-Up feature extended to include Sent Items folder:
As another aid to system maintenance, the client's Tidy-Up feature has been extended to include messages stored in the Sent Items folder as well as the Zetafax Inbox and Outbox folders.

  • Include transmission details on manually printed faxes:
To make filing and retrieval of faxes easier, the Zetafax Client now provides the option to add a transmission report to the top of the fax page when printing sent or received faxes. This helps in cases such as filing of proof of delivery documentation.

  • Multiple message print:
Users can now print multiple messages in a single operation. “Multiple message print” saves time for users who receive or send a larger number of faxes but do not wish all faxes to be printed automatically. Faxes can be printed in batches by selecting a range of messages or a number of individual messages.

  • Management of previous recipients list:
With Zetafax 2012, users can remove old or incorrect entries from their previous recipients list from directly within the fax wizard - reducing the risk of addressing and sending faxes erroneously.

  • Remember previously opened window on startup:
To improve usability for customers whose primary Zetafax activity is something other than sending – such as processing inbound faxes or system administration – the Zetafax Client now reopens at the last selected window before the client was closed.

Zetafax API 64-bit support

Both 32-bit and 64-bit native versions of the Zetafax API library are available in Zetafax 2012. This enables Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) and other customers to integrate 64-bit applications with Zetafax quickly and easily. Both 32-bit and 64-bit versions are fully source code compatible, meaning that existing 32-bit applications can be rebuilt as 64-bit applications without any need to make changes in the Zetafax integration work.

Administrator option to delete messages sent using the API

The Zetafax API now enables administrators to specify whether a fax should be deleted automatically after sending. This option may be set to leave completed messages in the Outbox, delete the message if successful, or delete the messages on completion, whatever the outcome.

Improved support for Brooktrout fax board and SR140

Zetafax 2012 includes an updated version of the Brooktrout drivers, version 6.5. Used with Dialogic Brooktrout fax boards and the Zetafax FoIP Connector (SR140 Edition), version 6.5 includes the following enhancements:

  • Support for new low-profile TR1034 fax boards:
Zetafax 2012 adds support for the new low-profile, digital TR1034 fax boards. These are half-length, half-height PCI Express boards available in a range of channel densities.

  • Adaptive Fax Timer Support:
Utilizing the new adaptive fax timer feature in SDK 6.5, T.30 fax timers can now self-adjust to compensate for both the fax transport method and for any delays experienced during the call. This feature is beneficial to both fax boards connected directly to phone lines and Fax over IP systems experiencing variable network delays.

  • Interoperability improvements:
A number of enhancements to improve interoperability of the SR140 software with T.38 phone systems and other devices are also included.
