FIX: Zetadocs Client uses author security even if no password is supplied

This Zetadocs technical note applies to:

  • Zetadocs Client

Symptom

Documents saved as PDF in the Zetadocs Client are marked as “SECURED” and they have author security applied even if no password is supplied.

Cause

This is default Zetadocs Client behaviour and is as designed.

Resolution

There is a registry switch for those who need to disable the PDF security properties completely.

To disable the security:

  • Create a string registry value, named “DisablePDFSecurity” in “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Equisys\Zetadocs PDF” for 32bit systems
  • Alternatively for 64bit systems: “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Equisys\Zetadocs PDF”
  • Set the data of this value to “1”

Note: If your Zetadocs Client version is 7.0.134 or below, please contact Equisys Technical Support for a hotfix.

Status

This issue was resolved in Zetadocs Client 7.0.135. For any earlier versions there is a hotfix available. Please contact Equisys Technical Support and quote the technote number ZTN4107.
