This Zetafax technical note applies to:
Zetafax supports Class 2.1 V.34 faxing at speeds of up to 33600 bps with version 8.0.1.126 and later. This technical note applies to analog Class 2.1 modems. This technical note describes how to configure Zetafax for V.34 support.
Equisys has tested V.34 support with these modems:
The following similar modems should also work:
Is it also possible to configure Zetafax to support other untested v.34 fax modems.
If you have a previous version of Zetafax 8 you can download the update from the Zetafax software updates page.
http://www.equisys.com/support/software_updates_zf8.html
(If you are using V9 or later this update is included by default). After downloading it, install the update, referring to the readme.txt file for instructions; if you are using one of the modems listed above then no further configuration should be necessary.
If your modem is not supported you will need to install it as a standard modem using the Zetafax configuration program, then work through the following steps:
ServiceClass: 2.1
The paragraph should now look like this.
Testing
Start the Zetafax Server. You should see one of the following messages appear for each device:
"FCLASS-n: Configured for MultiTech Systems V.92 modem"
And for each device:
"FCLASS-n: Modem set to Class 2.1"
This message is required for V.34 support.
Send or receive a fax. You should see the following message displayed after the modem has connected and before the pages are sent or received:
"V.34 connection at 33600"
Note: This message will appear ONLY if the device you are communicating with is also V.34 fax capable.
Troubleshooting
If you have set up an unsupported device and it receives faxes that are corrupted, e.g. mostly black pages, you may need to add the following line to the device paragraph in setup.ini:
ReceiveReversed: YES
