Phone number category rules
This dialog allows the Zetafax telephone number type rules to be set up. Zetafax will look at the telephone number of a fax and decide, from these rules, whether the call is local, national or international. Zetafax user accounts can specify the telephone number types which may be sent to, allowing specific users to be prohibited from making international calls, or calls to certain countries. See User send time restrictions for information on specifying allowed number types in individual user accounts.

An example of a set of rules which might be used in London are as follows: 020 7...Local 020 8...Local 00...International (1) 0...National (1) x... Local ...Local
Up to 30 rules may be defined as required. The rules are evaluated by the system from top to bottom. Thus in the above example, if the number being called starts with "020 7" or "020 8" it is a local call, if it starts with "00" it is international. Any other number starting with 0 is national, while any internal extension ("x") calls, and indeed all other calls ("") are classified as local.
Rules list
This displays a list of rules, containing the phone number categories currently configured. The start of the phone number (left) and the category name (right) are displayed. Click on an entry, and its details are entered into the Start of number and Category boxes. Here, the details can be modified, and either saved to the same rules entry by clicking the Modify button or to a new entry by clicking the Add button.
Start of number
The start of number is matched against the first few characters of the addressee phone number - the addressee phone number is of the given type if the first characters (ignoring non alphanumeric characters) match.
Category
The category is one of the following: "Local", " National (1)" to " National (9)", " International (1)" to " International (9)". Hence, there are 19 categories available.
Modify
Click this button to save the details in the Start of number and Category boxes to the currently selected rule (as highlighted in the Rules list ).
Add
Click this button to save the details in the Start of number and Category boxes to a new entry in the Rules list . The new rule is inserted before the currently selected item in the list.
Remove
Remove the currently selected item from the Rules list.
OK
Save any changes that have been made to the phone number category rules, and exit the Zetafax - configuration options dialog.
Cancel
Do not save changes made to the phone number category rules, and exit the Zetafax - configuration options dialog.
Reset
Reset the phone number category rules to their default settings. The settings are not saved until either OK is clicked or another category icon is selected from the scroll (left).
If you use the scrolling icons on the left to move to another Category , any changes made to the phone number category rules are saved.
