Some of the features of Zetafax 2009
Support
for server virtualization
|
Businesses planning virtualized server environments can enable
the Zetafax server in the same environment to provide protection
against computer hardware failure. The Zetafax server can be moved
onto another physical computer quickly and easily, avoiding the need
for a separate failover server just for fax.
Zetafax 2009 supports VMWare servers using VMWare ESX or ESXi
3.5. The full server feature set is supported, so users are unable
to distinguish between a server running under VMWare and one running
on a native operating system.
|
Support
for Fax over IP (FoIP)
|
Zetafax 2009 includes a Fax over IP Connector (chargeable add-on)
which provides an efficient way to integrate a fax server and phone
systems. Voice over IP (VoIP) phone systems can be used for faxing
directly, saving the cost of installing separate phone lines for the
use by the fax Server. Zetafax also supports a range of media
gateways that will manage the communication between the PBX and the
IP network via T.38 and enable conversion from T.38 to T.30 for
communication over the PSTN, enabling compatibility with traditional
fax machines.

Extended support for Brooktrout hardware
|
Zetafax 2009 includes version 6.0 of of the Brooktrout drivers,
released in December 2008, which extends support for Brooktrout
TR1034 and Trufax boards to the following operating systems:
- Windows Server 2008, 64-bit version
- Windows Server 2008, 32-bit version
- Windows Server 2003, 64-bit version
- Windows Server 2003, 32-bit version
- Windows XP Professional

Support for Citrix XenApp 5
|
Zetafax 2009 includes support for Citrix XenApp 5 (the successor
to Citrix Presentation Server 4.5). This has the same functionality
as for Presentation Server and Windows Terminal Services, enabling
users to run the Zetafax Client as a terminal server application and
to send faxes from applications running in a terminal server
session.
This means that companies can migrate to XenApp or move to a
terminal services applications with no loss in functionality.
|
Improved
support for higher volume systems
|
Zetafax 2009 improves support for systems with larger numbers of
fax devices.
For systems with Brooktrout, Eicon or other CAPI boards, the time
taken to start the Zetafax Server has been significantly improved.
This change will reduce the startup time by several minutes on
larger systems, which in turn reduces the time that the system is
unavailable to users after a restart, and reduces the time for the
administrator when performing maintenance on the system.
