Zetafax 2011 introduces Fax Relay to improve compliance management and provide greater control
New feature allows faxes sent via a fax machine or multi-function device to be directed through the Zetafax Server to ensure a complete archive is maintained
London, United Kingdom – 18th May 2011: Equisys today announced availability of Zetafax 2011, the latest version of its award winning fax software. The new version delivers a range of improvements and a brand new add-on, providing customers with the tools to improve document based processes and reduce costs.
Zetafax 2011 introduces the new Fax Relay add-on for Zetafax, which allows users to send faxes from a fax machine in the office, with the fax being sent via the Zetafax Server. This means that paper faxes are included in the archive along with faxes sent via the Zetafax Client, which is important for organizations that require outbound communications to be archived for compliance or other management purposes.
"With many fax server solutions, the archive only provides those documents sent via the software," explains Gareth Williams, Technical Director at Equisys plc. "If a fax machine is still required, for example due to shared PCs or the nature of the environment, any paper document sent is not included in the archive. This means that documents are liable to be lost or misfiled, and that faxes are stored in multiple locations – all of which can lead to delays in responding to queries and issues with compliance. With Fax Relay users send a fax in exactly the same way they normally would but, because it is being sent out via Zetafax, the document is securely stored in the archive which allows it to be quickly and easily retrieved."
With fax machines and multi-function devices connected via a standard network (LAN) connection, Fax Relay removes the need for dedicated telephony wiring and provides greater flexibility on positioning these units. It also helps customers save costs as external phone lines are not required for fax machines, and line interface cards are not required when moving to a Voice over IP (VoIP) or other new phone system.
Zetafax 2011 also provides an improved user interface, adopting a ribbon bar so that the most common functions are available via large icons on a single ribbon tab. This means that key functions can be easily identified and accessed via a single mouse click, making Zetafax more intuitive and even easier to use.
The Zetafax Client has also been enhanced to make it even easier to use with other applications for processing received faxes. Up to nine custom actions can be added, making it easier for users to perform additional tasks such as passing to an electronic records management system for processing or storage.
"Zetafax is the fax server of choice for many ISVs who want to provide fax capability integrated with their own solutions," continues Williams. "This enhanced function in Zetafax 2011 now makes it even easier for received faxes to be processed which increases productivity. The Zetafax Viewer has also been enhanced to allow more flexibility in the handling and annotating of faxes to enhance the overall user experience."
